B&W Printing Basics Group Workshop
3 hours – $150.00 per person
In this four hour class, you will learn how to make black and white darkroom prints in a traditional black & white darkroom. You’ll create one contact sheet and between 1-3 black and white image from a negative, taking home anything you print during the class.
You provide your own negatives to print from.
Chemistry is included.
This class is for darkroom printing only. We do not develop any film in this class.
Max: 4 people per workshop.
Full Day Crash Course – Camera Basics/Film Processing/B&W Darkroom
5 hours – $250 Per Person
Learn how to use your film camera, including loading film and basic settings such as aperture and shutter speed. Bring any film camera and roll of black and white film of your choosing. As a group we will have a small outing around St Peters/Newtown to shoot our film, then return to Sydney Darkroom to learn how to develop one roll of black and white film into negatives from start to finish.
After a short break, we will take our finished negatives into the darkroom and learn to make a contact sheet and up to three enlargements from selected negatives.
Max: 3 people per workshop.
Film Camera Basics & Film Processing Workshop
3 hours – $150 Per Person
Learn how to use your film camera, including loading film and basic settings such as aperture and shutter speed. Bring any film camera and roll of black and white film of your choosing. As a group we will have a small outing around St Peters/Newtown to shoot our film, then return to Sydney Darkroom to learn how to develop one roll of black and white film into negatives from start to finish. Negatives will be scanned at the end of the lesson
Feel free to bring your own camera and a roll of film. We do have cameras for use for a flat rate of $10.00, and we can provide a roll of black and white film for an additional $10.00.
This class is for developing film only. We do not go into the darkroom with the red lights in this class.

Monthly group critique/portfolio review
2 hours – $10.00 per person
Sign up to attend our monthly group critique/portfolio review sessions. This (approximately) 2 hour workshop will allow participants to show their personal work and receive feedback from a group of peers. Sessions will take place approximately every four weeks.
These sessions are open to artists of any discipline, though priority will be given to film/analog/darkroom photographic work. Each participant can show and discuss their work for 15 minutes. This group critique session is free to members of Sydney Darkroom.
Please bring physical prints/artworks if possible and practical.
Light snacks will be provided when possible, but feel free to BYOB/Snacks.
Cyanotype Group Workshop
3 Hours – $100 per person
In this 3 hour workshop, we will learn how to make prints using the cyanotype process, which produces rich blue prints with brilliant highlights. We will cover chemistry mixing, print coating, and printing, and you will take your cyanotypes home with you at the end of the lesson.
Chemistry and paper provided. Students will need to bring their own print materials. Cyanotype is a contact process, so print materials can range from physical objects to large format negatives. If you would like to use a digital image, please send us the image at least 7 days before your class so that we can prepare a digital negative for you.
Film Processing Group Lesson
2 hours – $100 Per Person
Learn how to process film with one of our instructors. Students will load, process, and scan up to 4 rolls of film.
This class is for developing film only. We do not go into the darkroom with the red lights in this class.
Private Lessons
Private lessons offer one-on-one sessions with an instructor on one of our pre-defined courses or custom advanced lessons.

Intermediate B&W Printing Private Lesson
3 hours – $175.00
Continue your B&W Darkroom printing education with this intermediate black & white printing workshop. Learn more advanced techniques such as dodging and burning, split-filtering, archival printing, and more, or choose your own area of study. Must have previous darkroom experience to take this course.
You provide your own negatives to print from. Chemistry is included.
